- Deciphering complex tumor, immune and stroma cell interactions in the microenvironment of solid human malignancies to develop novel immunotherapy approaches.
- Studying optical and mechanical properties of tumor, immune and stromal cells contributing to immune evasion and immunotherapy resistance.
- Studying optical and mechanical properties of tumor cells to develop novel pathological diagnostic tools.
For both topics we utilize state of the art tissue analysis techniques (including spatial transcriptomics, spatial proteomics and large-scale mutational profiling). In collaboration with the Guck group at MPI for physics and medicine we study optical and mechanical properties of tumor cells either to employ them for novel pathological diagnostics or to study the role of differential cell properties contributing to immune evasion and immunotherapy resistance.
